WHAT IS THE UMW NETWORK, AND HOW DO I CONNECT?

According to our Network and Computer Use Policy, "The UMW computer network consists of a campus-wide backbone, local area network, many shared computers as well as personal desktop computers, and other computing devices." Which is to say, that "getting on the network" is not just a simple matter of plugging into an available port. Regardless of the type of computer you are using, there are three basic steps you need to take to connect to the UMW information environment. They are:
