Skill Areas

Four skill areas that comprise this requirement are each assessed independently through hands-on exercises involving the use of a computer. The table below depicts how students demonstrate proficiency in each of the four areas:

English 101

Each student must construct a word-processed paper complying with MLA requirements and meeting at least 75% of the specified learning objectives.

Spreadsheets

Create a spreadsheet involving calculations.

Introductory Laboratory Science courses

Each student must create a spreadsheet involving calculations that fulfills at least 75% of the specified learning objectives.

Computing and Society

Use the campus computer network to send and receive information; use digital resources efficiently

Student Orientation

Web-based quiz.

Library and Information Literacy

Locate topically relevant information electronically from the campus library and Internet.

English 101

Each student must complete 8 short online Information Literacy quizzes and each quiz must be passed independently, with a cumulative score of at least 75% (34 total true/false, multiple choice and short answer questions).

Completing the Requirement

Students may satisfy this requirement by attending a training session or by completing the assignments independently.
