Multimedia Enhanced Classrooms
There are a growing number of multimedia-enhanced classrooms on both campuses of the University of Mary Washington. We've defined a multimedia-enhanced classroom as an instructional space that contains at least one computer and video projector. Computer labs which are configured with a video projector are listed here as well as on our listing of labs.
Through consultation with faculty, members of the Department of Information Technologies has established the following process for identifying future classrooms to equip with enhanced electronic capability:
- We attempt to equitably establish an increasing number of these classrooms so that instructional programs can incorporate the Internet, multimedia slide presentations, and other digital demonstrations.
- With the help of faculty, department chairs, and academic program directors, we identify the highest priorities for each building and campus so that as funds and equipment become available more computer-enhanced classrooms can be created.
- We communicate with faculty teaching in these rooms to address space, orientation, and usability issues.
Staff from several divisions in the Department of Information Technologies (DTLT, User Services) are involved in the design of these projects in consultation with faculty who will be using these rooms, but actual contracts, equipment, and installations are supervised by staff from User Services. This same process applies to computer labs .
