To Operate the Touch Screen
All AV equipment is operated through the touch screen.
- To begin using the presentation software, touch the screen on the Lectern.
- Touch the screen to wake up the system.
- Touch “Press Here to Start”.
- VOLUME controls are on the Touch Panel.
Note: Touch screens and images sometimes become unsynchronized. You may need to touch the screen off center from the image.
To Project the Computer Image:
- Turn on the computer in the Lectern (Please leave the computer on when finished).
- Select the image of the “Main PC” on the touch screen.
- You will see the computer monitor displayed on the Sympodium screen.
- On the Crestron Touch Screen, touch the “Touch Here to Start” button.
Controlling the Volume:
- On the Crestron Touch Panel, in the lower left corner of the screen are the volume controls for the AV system.
- Use the up or down buttons to change the volume level and the mute button to stop all audio.
If you have the volume control up all of the way using the touch panel but are still not hearing any audio on the computer, click the speaker icon located near the clock on the lower right corner of the Windows taskbar. Be sure the computer volume is not muted, and raise or lower the volume as needed.
Logging In:
To log into the COMPUTER ONLY (no network drive access):
- At the log in screen, click the “Workstation Only” box.
Be sure the username is either:
“instructor” (gives you administrator access) and enter instructor password for this room or
“student” (gives you user level access) and LEAVE THE PASSWORD FIELD BLANK.
- Click OK.
To log into the NETWORK (if you need access to network drives, H:, S: and all other assigned drives):
- At the log in screen, enter your long network username (for example: .tjones.dept.staff.mwc)
- Enter your network password (same as you use on your office computer).\
- Click OK.
- At the next log in screen, be sure the username of “instructor” or “student” is entered (see above).
- Enter the appropriate password (see above).
- Click OK.
To Play an Audio CD in Player:
- Push the INPUT button until you see S-Video displayed on the screen.
- Touch the image of the DVD/CD Player.
To Project a Laptop Image:
- Using the cable provided on the podium, connect the VGA to the jack on your laptop.
- Connect the Network cable and audio cables, if needed.
- Turn on your laptop.
- On the Crestron Touch Screen, touch the “Laptop” button.
Troubleshooting Tip: If your laptop image is not being projected, you may need to manually send a video signal to your laptop’s VGA jack. This is usually done by pressing the blue FN (function) key on the laptop keyboard in combination with one of the F1-F12 keys on your keyboard.
To Project a VHS tape:
- On the Crestron Touch Screen, touch the image of the VCR.
- Insert the VHS tape into the VCR with the solid side of the tape case facing outward.
- Set the VCR/DVD combo deck to the VCR by pressing the VCR/DVD button on deck or remote.
- Use the controls on the touch screen to control your VHS playback:
- The RETURN BUTTON takes you back to the main touch screen menu.
Note: Computer does not need to be on to project from the VCR.
To Project a DVD or Play a CD:
- Insert DVD or CD.
- Set the VCR/DVD combo deck to the DVD by pressing the VCR/DVD button on deck or remote .
- On the Crestron Touch Screen, touch the image of the DVD.
- Use the controls on the touch screen to control your DVD:
- MENU button – will take you to the DVD menu.
- ARROW Buttons – will allow you to move around in the DVD menu.
- OK Button – press this to select an item on the DVD menu.
- Standard Playback Buttons – allow you to PLAY, STOP, PAUSE.
- PIC MUTE – Sends a Black Screen to the projector.
- The RETURN BUTTON – takes you back to the main screen are the volume controls for the AV system. Use the up or down buttons to change the level, and the MUTE button to stop all audio.
Note: Computer does not need to be on to use the DVD/VHS player.
After Every Class:
- Log off the computer – Do not shut it down.
- Shut down the system by touching the “EXIT System” button located on the touch screen, then touching the “YES Shutdown System” button.
- The system will shut down.
- Roll up projection screen.
- Return all remotes to the Lectern (desktop or keyboard tray).
