Media Equipment Instructions - Combs 011
To project the computer image:
- Turn on the computer at the Instructor Desk by pushing the
button on the front of the computer (Please leave the computer on when finished) - At the Log in screen:
- To log into the NETWORK (if you need access to network drives, H:, S: and all other assigned drives):
- At the log in screen, enter your username with the full context (for example: .tjones.dept.staff.mwc)
- Enter your network password (same as you use on your office computer)
- Click OK
- At the next log in screen, enter the appropriate Windows User Name:
- Enter the username of Instructor in the User Name field; enter the correct password for the room in the password field, or
- Enter the username of student; LEAVE THE PASSWORD FIELD BLANK
- Click OK
- To log into the COMPUTER ONLY (no network drive access):
- At the log in screen, click the Workstation Only box.
- Enter the appropriate User Name and password.
- Enter the username of Instructor in the User Name field; enter the correct password for the room in the password field, or
- Enter the username of student; LEAVE THE PASSWORD FIELD BLANK
- Click OK
- To log into the NETWORK (if you need access to network drives, H:, S: and all other assigned drives):
- Be sure the slide switch located at the top right of the Projector remote is in the On position
- Point the Projector remote toward the ceiling mounted projector and press the
button - After a brief start up period, the projector will display a blue screen for approximately 30 seconds while it is warming up.
- On the Projector remote, push the
button. You will see Computer 2 on upper left of screen - This room does not have audio capability
To project a DVD:
- Turn on the computer at the Instructor Desk by pushing the
button on the front of the computer (Please leave the computer on when finished) - Using the CD/DVD Drive on the computer (push button on side to open and close drive) insert your disk (shiny side down) then close drive tray
- Point the Projector remote toward the ceiling mounted projector and press the red
button - After a brief start up period, the projector will display a blue start up image for approximately 30 seconds while it is warming up.
- On the Projector remote, push the
button. You will see Computer 1 in the upper left of screen - Windows Media Player should launch automatically. If a pop up window appears and you must choose how to play the DVD, choose Play DVD using Windows Media Player
Windows Media Player:
You may choose to start Windows Media Player manually:
- Click on Start in the lower-left corner of computer screen
- Click All Programs
- Click Windows Media Player to launch the DVD player
- Press the Play button in the lower-left corner of the window
To identify a button’s function allow your mouse to hover over the button and its function tip will appear. Use the mouse to click on DVD controls.
- Play, Pause and Stop buttons are located in the control panel
- To view the DVD image full screen, from the tool bar choose View > Full Screen or press ALT + Enter on the keyboard
- While in the full screen mode simply move the mouse and the controls will reappear.
You can control the DVD volume by:
- using the Volume Control in Windows Media Player
- using the Volume knob on the Speaker
- If no sound comes out of the speakers, make sure the volume is not muted on the computer:
- Double Click the SPEAKER icon in the system tray. (The area at the bottom right of the screen where the time is located)
- In the volume control window, adjust the Volume Control Slider, and then close the window
- When finished playing the DVD:
- Click on the Stop button
- From the toolbar choose Play > Eject
- Close the Windows Media Player by clicking on the Red X in the upper right corner of the screen.
To play an audio CD:
- Turn on the computer at the Instructor Desk by pushing the
button on the front of the computer (Please leave the computer on when finished) - Using the CD/DVD Drive on the computer (push button on side to open and close drive) insert your disk (shiny side down) then close drive tray
- On the pop up window, choose Play Audio CD using Windows Media Player
- If you need to manually launch the Windows Media Player:
- Click on Start in the lower-left corner of computer screen
- Click All Programs
- Click Windows Media Player to launch the DVD player
- Press the Play button in the lower-left corner of the window
- Use the mouse to click on track choices.
- You can control the CD volume by:
- using the Volume Control in Windows Media Player
- using the Volume knob on the Computer Speakers
- When finished, close Windows Media Player and remove your CD.
- Push the button on the side of the CD/DVD Drive
- From the menu bar choose Play > Eject
To play a VHS tape (for Equipment not in Lectern):
- Turn on both the TV and the VCR located on the rolling cart.
- Put the VHS tape into the VCR and press play. If no image shows on the screen, press the TV/VCR button on the VCR.
- To adjust the volume, press the volume button on the TV.
- Once finished, press the STOP button on the VCR, and then press the eject button to remove the tape.
- Turn off both the TV and the VCR.
After Every Class:
- To shut down the projector, point the Projector remote toward the projector and press the
button twice
- Log off the computer – Do not shut it down
- Click on Start, Log off
- Click Log off again
- Roll up projection screen
- Return remote to the table in front of the classroom
