computer imageTo project the computer image:

  1. Turn on the computer at the Instructor Desk by pushing the power button on the front of the computer (Please leave the computer on when finished)
  2. At the Log in screen:
    • To log into the NETWORK (if you need access to network drives, H:, S: and all other assigned drives):
      • At the log in screen, enter your long network username (for example:  .tjones.dept.staff.mwc )
      • Enter your network password (same as you use on your office computer)
      • Click OK
      • At the next log in screen, be sure the username of “student” is entered
      • LEAVE THE PASSWORD FIELD BLANK
      • Click OK
    • To log into the COMPUTER ONLY (no network drive access):
      • At the log in screen, click the “Workstation Only” box
      • Be sure the username is either “instructor” (Gives you administrator access)
        • Enter instructor password for this room
      • or “student” (Gives you user level access)
        • LEAVE THE PASSWORD FIELD BLANK
      • Click OK
  3. Be sure the slide switch located at the top right of the "Projector" remote is in the “On” position
  4. Point the “Projector” remote toward the ceiling mounted projector and press the power button
  5. After a brief start up period, the projector will display a screen for approximately 30 seconds while it is warming up.
  6. On the “Projector” remote, push the comp 1 button.  You will see “Computer 1” on upper right of screen.
    • To make sure that the Computer is used as the input source, open the wall cabinet above the lectern. There are three numbered buttons on the left that have a label below each: 1 – PC, 2 – VCR, 3 – DVD. Press the “1” button. It will not light up like the other two buttons.
  7. The volume is controlled by the volume control knob in the wall cabinet. The knob is located on the far right.
    • If no sound comes out of the speakers, make sure the volume is not muted on the computer:
      • Double Click the SPEAKER icon in the system tray. (The area at the bottom right of the screen where the time is located)
      • In the volume control window, adjust the Volume Control Slider, and then close the window.

Note: This is best used for the purpose of making sure the volume on the computer is not on mute. It is not, however, the best way to adjust the volume. Use the knob located in the wall cabinet to do this.

VHS ImageTo project a VHS tape:

  1. Turn on the VCR located in the Wall Cabinet above the computer by pressing the power button on the VCR
  2. Point the “Projector” remote toward the ceiling mounted projector and press the red power button
  3. After a brief start up period, the projector will display a start up image for approximately 30 seconds while it is warming up.
  4. On the “Projector” remote, push the comp 1 button. You will see “Computer 1” in the upper right of screen
    • To make sure that the VCR is used as the input source, open the wall cabinet above the lectern. There are three numbered buttons on the left that have a label below each: 1 – PC, 2 – VCR, 3 – DVD. Press the “2” button and it will light up, indicating that is it the input source.
  5. Insert the VHS tape into the VCR with the solid side of the tape case facing outward
  6. Use the “VCR” remote or the buttons on the VCR to control playback of the tape
  7. The volume is controlled by the volume control knob in the wall cabinet. The knob is located on the far right.
    • If no sound comes out of the speakers, make sure the volume is not muted on the computer:
      • Double Click the SPEAKER icon in the system tray. (The area at the bottom right of the screen where the time is located)
      • In the volume control window, adjust the Volume Control Slider, and then close the window.

Note: Computer does not need to be on to project from the VCR

DVD ImageTo project a DVD using the Computer:

  1. Turn on the computer at the Instructor Desk by pushing the power button on the front of the computer (Please leave the computer on when finished)
  2. Using the CD/DVD Drive on the computer (push button on side to open and close drive) insert your disk (shiny side down) then close drive tray
  3. Point the “Projector” remote toward the ceiling mounted projector and press the power button
  4. After a brief start up period, the projector will display a start up image for approximately 30 seconds while it is warming up.
  5. On the “Projector” remote, push the comp 1 button. You will see “Computer 1” in the upper right of screen.
    • To make sure that the Computer is used as the input source, open the wall cabinet above the lectern. There are three numbered buttons on the left that have a label below each: 1 – PC, 2 – VCR, 3 – DVD. Press the “1” button. It will not light up like the other two buttons.
  6. Cyberlink PowerDVD should launch automatically, if not:
    • If you must choose how to launch the DVD, in the pop up window choose “Play DVD” using PowerDVD
    • If you need to manually launch PowerDVD:
      • Click on “Start” in the lower-left corner of computer screen
      • Click “All Programs
      • Click “PowerDVD” to launch the DVD player
      • Press the “Play” button in the lower portion of the window
  7. To identify a buttons function allow your mouse to hover over the button and its function tip will appear. Use the mouse to click on DVD controls.
    • Play”, “Pause” and “Stop” buttons are located in the control panel
    • To view the DVD image full screen, don’t move the mouse for a few seconds.
    • While in the full screen mode, the controls bar will disappear. To make them reappear or to get out of full screen mode, just move the mouse.
    • Stop movie and click the “Settings” button in the control panel to manipulate the DVD settings
  8. The volume is controlled by the volume control knob in the wall cabinet. The knob is located on the far right.
    • If no sound comes out of the speakers, make sure the volume is not muted on the computer:
      • Double Click the SPEAKER icon in the system tray. (The area at the bottom right of the screen where the time is located)
      • In the volume control window, adjust the Volume Control Slider, and then close the window
    • Or you can use the “Volume Control” slider in PowerDVD player
  9. When finished:
    • Stop movie by pressing the stop button at the bottom left
    • Close PowerDVD by clicking the ‘X’ at the top right of the screen
    • Press the EJECT button on the CD/DVD drive and remove the disc

DVD To project a DVD using the DVD/LD player:

  1. Turn on the Pioneer DVD/LD Player on the desktop
  2. Press the DVD/CD open button in the top right corner of the player and insert your disk
  3. Press the close button to close the tray
  4. Point the “Projector” remote toward the ceiling mounted projector and press the power button
  5. The projector will display a start up image for approximately 30 seconds while it is warming up
  6. On the “Projector” remote, push the comp 1 button until you see “Computer 1” in the upper right of screen.
    • To make sure that the DVD/LD Player is used as the input source, open the wall cabinet above the lectern. There are three numbered buttons on the left that have a label below each: 1 – PC, 2 – VCR, 3 – DVD. Press the “3” button and it will light up, indicating that is it the input source.
  7. Use the “Pioneer” remote to control playback of the DVD, or you can use the controls on the front of the player

  9. When finished:
    • Press the stop button on the “Pioneer” remote or on the front of the player.
    • Press the open button and remove the DVD disk from the tray.

Note: Computer does not need to be on to project from the DVD/LD player.

DVD To project a LaserDisc using the DVD/LD player:

  1. Turn on the Pioneer DVD/LD Player
  2. Press the LD open button on the top right corner of the player and insert your Laserdisc
  3. Press the close button to close the tray
  4. Point the “Projector” remote toward the ceiling mounted projector and press the power button
  5. The projector will display a start up image for approximately 30 seconds while it is warming up
  6. On the “Projector” remote, push the comp 1 button until you see “Computer 1” in the upper right of screen.
    • To make sure that the DVD/LD Player is used as the input source, open the wall cabinet above the lectern. There are three numbered buttons on the left that have a label below each: 1 – PC, 2 – VCR, 3 – DVD. Press the “3” button and it will light up, indicating that is it the input source.
  7. Use the “Pioneer” remote to control playback of the DVD, or you can use the controls on the front of the player
  8. Volume is controlled by using the volume knob in the wall cabinet.
  9. When finished:
    • Press the stop button on the “Pioneer” remote or on the front of the player.
    • Press the open button and remove the DVD disk from the tray.

Note: Computer does not need to be on to project from the DVD/LD player

audio CD To play an audio CD:

  1. Turn on the computer in the Instructor Desk by pushing the power button on the front of the computer (Please leave the computer on when finished)
  2. Using the CD/DVD Drive on the computer, insert your CD
  3. Point the “Projector” remote toward the ceiling mounted projector and press the power button
  4. After a brief start up period, the projector will display a blue start up image for approximately 30 seconds while it is warming up.
  5. On the “Projector” remote, push the comp 1 button. You will see “Computer 1” in the upper left of screen
    • To make sure that the Computer is used as the input source, open the wall cabinet above the lectern. There are three numbered buttons on the left that have a label below each: 1 – PC, 2 – VCR, 3 – DVD. Press the “1” button and it will light up, indicating that is it the input source.
  6. On the pop up window, choose “Play Audio CD” using Windows Media Player
    • If you need to manually launch the Windows Media Player:
      • Click on “Start” in the lower-left corner of computer screen
      • Click “All Programs
      • Click “Windows Media Player” to launch the DVD player
      • Press the “Play” button in the lower-left corner of the window
  7. Use the mouse to click on track choices.
  8. You can control the CD volume by using the volume control knob located in the wall cabinet.
    • If no sound comes out of the speakers, make sure the volume is not muted on the computer:
      • Double Click the SPEAKER icon in the system tray. (The area at the bottom right of the screen where the time is located)
      • In the volume control window, adjust the Volume Control Slider, and then close the window
  9. When finished:
    • Stop movie by pressing the stop button at the bottom left
    • Close Windows Media Player by clicking the ‘X’ at the top right of the screen.
    • Press the EJECT button on the CD/DVD drive and remove the disc

after class After Every Class:

  1. To shut down the projector, point the “Projector” remote toward the projector and press the power button twice
  2. Log off the computer – Do not shut it down
    • Click on Start, Log off
    • Click Log off again
  3. Roll up projection screen
  4. Return all remotes to the Instructor Desk
