Function

The Technology Training Center (TTC), located in the Clubhouse at the University Apartment Complex,, provides a place for technology-based training for the faculty and staff at Mary Washington College. Secondarily, the TTC is available by reservation for faculty to introduce their students to technology-based instruction. There are specific directions for using the TTC that might be helpful to you after you've made your reservation.

The TTC supports the College's instructional program and facilitates the integration of technology into modern pedagogical approaches to teaching and learning. It also provides support to administrative functions of the College. Through peer-tutoring models, we encourage the faculty and students trained by us to train other faculty and students using the FSTTC.

Equipment

  • Every computer is connected to the campus network via 10Base-T ethernet.

  • Dell Computers (17)
    All Dell computers have:
    • CD-ROM
    • 3.5" floppy disk drives
    • Flat panel monitors

  • 1 Panasonic overhead video projector for teaching station, set to 800x600 resolution
  • 1 Pioneer 4400 Laserdisc Player (connected to the video projector)
  • 1 Hewlett Packard LaserJet printer (connected to all the computers)
  • 1 Sharp VCR connected to Cable TV

Reserving the TTC

To reserve the TTC, use our online calendar and reservation form to "Submit an Event" or contact Joanne Piper (654-1565) or Pam Lowery (654-1014) in the Clubhouse. To ensure the success of your time in the TTC, try to make reservations a few days before you plan to use the facility. Anyone from the Teaching and Learning Technologies staff can provide assistance if you provide advanced notice. If you have specific software that you need to load on the computers prior to your reservation please let us know. You are expected to abide by lab policies while using it. The lab policy is posted on the door as you enter. Thanks for helping us to preserve this resource for everyone's use.

Directions to the Clubhouse

If you are driving, enter the complex from College Avenue:

  • Travel down College Ave., going away from Rt. 1
  • Cross William Street (pass Trinity Episcopal Church).
  • Turn left into the 3rd driveway (It’s the one with the handicapped sign).
  • Go to the bottom of the hill.
  • Turn left (you cannot do anything else)
  • The Clubhouse is on the left.

Parking is EXTREMELY limited. You may find a spot in student parking, but you cannot count on it. You should not park in one of the Service Vehicle spots. Other options are to park on Sunken Road, on Hanover Ave., at the Alumni Executive Center, or at the Tennis Center and walk over.

If you are walking, enter the complex from William Street:

  • Travel down College Ave., going away from Rt. 1
  • Turn left onto William Street
  • Go past the church
  • Turn right into the 2nd driveway belonging to the Apartment complex
  • The Clubhouse is on the right.

Once you enter the Clubhouse- turn to the left. The training room will be directly in front of you.
