Connecting to the Network

If you are a UMW student, you'll be provided instructions and resources for connecting to the UMW network upon moving into your Residence Hall. You will be given a CD with:

  • Symantec Antivirus
  • Cisco Clean Access
  • Instructions for instalilng these resources

If you want to get a head start:

  • Make sure that you know your Net ID and password. See Connect–Step One
  • Check to make sure that your computer is configured to get an IP Address (network address) dynamically. See this page for more information.
  • Make sure that your computer's operating system is up-to-date (Internet Explorer - Tools - Windows Updates).
  • Configure your system so that it gets its updates daily.

To access Banner, Blackboard, the Portal, or UMW email, you must first obtain your network ID. Go to Connect–Step One to do so.

TCP/IP* options are already configured, on most computers, to connect to the internet. If yours are not, click here for help.
