Web Browser Compatability
There are many changes taking place on the Web which have to do with browser security and accessibility for those using assistive technologies. For these reasons, and given ubiquitous and free access to browser upgrades, the University of Mary Washington has elected to place greater emphasis on employing current technologies rather than offering comprehensive backwards-compatibility for older browsers.
This will mean, if you are using an older browser you may not be able to view our Web site or use our online administrative Banner systems.
If you are having trouble viewing any part of our site, you will need to upgrade your browser. At present, UMW supports the following browsers on its Web site:
Windows Users
- Internet Explorer 6.0 or later
- Netscape 7.0 or later
- Netscape 4.7 or later: Limited browsing support, not compatible with Banner
- Firefox 1.0.7 or later: Limited browsing support, not compatible with Banner
Mac Users
- Apple Safari 1.0 or later
- Netscape 7.0 or later
- Netscape 4.7 or later: Limited browsing support, not compatible with Banner
- Internet Explorer 5.2.3 or later: Limited browsing support, not compatible with Banner
