What is Tempus?
The Tempus Initiative is the implementation of a vision to transform the University's entire information environment in support of the academic mission and University community. Tempus includes a series of related Information Technology projects being conducted, and planned, for the University. The technological basis of all Tempus projects is the implementation of SCT Banner Administrative Systems which will enable systems integration that has heretofore been difficult to do.
To date, these projects include:
- Project B.O.B.: The new information and administrative systems
- Infrastructure/Directory: Consolidation of our authentication environment (how you log on to the system) to unite all our current independent systems, enabling users to login to one system via the Web, accessing all other web-enabled applications with one login.
- Teaching and Learning Technologies: Creating a scalable environment, easily managed by end-users, to support and transform the teaching and learning experience.
- Portal and Information Architecture: Implementation of a customizable Web-based interface to access information from a single place with a single password. Enhancement and simplification of the Web authoring environment. Subsequential re-structuring of the external ".edu" Web site to better serve the user and more clearly communicate the University image and mission to external audiences.
More information will be posted on this site as the initiative takes shape in the coming months. Questions? Ask the Tempus Team>>
