This series of courses concentrates specifically on the needs of the supervisor. It is beneficial for new as well as experienced supervisors who want a refresher on the fundamentals of being a supervisor or who never had the chance to go through any formal training.

PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT

This 2-hour course will walk supervisors through a year of their employees' performance. The instructor will present best practices, and coaching theories, and discuss UMW policy and procedures for performance management. Topics will include:

  • New employee orientation/ setting expectations
  • Informal performance check-ins
  • Addressing performance issues/discipline/termination
  • Conducting annual performance evaluations
  • Reviewing EWPs and setting goals for upcoming year

Join us in this 2-hour course where we will discuss and share of ideas about ways to recognize employees, develop teams, and coach individuals to get the best attitude and performance from our employees. Topics will include:

  • Teambuilding strategies and ideas
  • Coaching and counseling techniques
  • UMW Recognition Practices
  • How to incorporate recognition and teambuilding into your routine

interpersonal communication & conflict resolution

From this 2-hour course participants will understand their personal communication styles, learn and practice counseling techniques, understand the mediation process and develop their mediation skills, and be able to identify UMW and external resources available to them.

In this 2-hour course, discover ways to streamline your operations! We will discuss ways to enhance your management skills through delegation, tips for running productive meetings, prioritzing and managing your own time, and successful project management.
