Formatting Numbers: Aligning Numbers <Previous Next>


The alignment tab contains options to configure the position of text within a cell. This tab is used to determine the following:

  • The horizontal and vertical alignment of data in selected cells.
  • The orientation of data in selected cells.
  • Whether long cell entries should be wrapped within the cell (Wrap Text).
  • Whether text size should shrink to fit the column width (Shrink to Fit).
  • If selected cells should be merged to form a single cell (Merge Cells).
  • The direction of the text (left to right).

    To align data within a cell:

  1. Select the cell(s) to configure.
  2. Select Format located on the menu bar.
  3. Choose Cells.
    1. Click on the Alignment tab.
    2. Make the appropriate changes from the categories listed on the Alignment tab (right, left, center).
    3. Click OK.
