Creating Slides :  Select a Slide Layout

On the Home tab in the Slides group, click on the Layout Icon .

You will see the Slide Layout dialog box. Click on the layout appropriate for the slide you are creating.  If you want to design the slide personally, click on the Blank layout.

Title Slide – Easily insert a title and a subtitle. Click in the boxes and type text.

Title and Content Slide  - Use this layout to present a slide title and bulleted content. To change the content, click on the content box and insert your own design.

Section Header – Use this layout as a title slide or to signify the beginning of a new section in the presentation.

Two Content – Use this slide for compare and contrast or for any two content topic.

Comparison – Another slide layout for compare and contrast with sub-titles added to the slide.

Title Only – Provides a space for the title and leaves the content design to the user.

Blank Slide – Entire content is up to the user.

Content with Caption – This layout provides a section for a subtitle and content and a blank section for user design.

Picture with Caption – Insert a picture, a table, or other design and this layout provides a section for a caption.

Content Watermark – Quickly add a table, chart, textbox, picture from a file, clipart, or a movie clip by clicking on one of these icons on the slide layout you have selected.

Powerpoint 2007 Extras

You can change a placeholder by resizing it, repositioning it, or changing the font, size, case, color, or spacing of text within it. You can change placeholders that appear on a single slide or on multiple slides in your presentation.

Change a placeholder that appears on a single slide:

1. Click the placeholder that you want to change, and then do any of the following:

a. To resize it, point to one of its sizing handles, and when the pointer becomes a two-headed arrow, drag the handle.

b. To reposition it, point to one of its borders, and when the pointer becomes a four-headed arrow, drag the placeholder to a new position.

  • To change the font, size, case, color, or spacing for text within it, select the text, and then on the Home tab, in the Font group, click the options that you want.

Change a placeholder that appears on multiple slides:

1. On the View tab, in the Presentation Views group, click Slide Master.

2. Click the custom layout that contains the placeholder that you want to change, and then click the placeholder.

3. Do any of the following: (same as above)

    a. To resize the placeholder, point to one of its sizing handles, and when the pointer becomes a two-headed arrow, drag the handle.

    b. To reposition the placeholder, point to one of its borders, and when the pointer becomes a four-headed arrow, drag the placeholder to a new position.

    c. To change the font, size, case, color, or spacing for text within the placeholder, select the text to display a floating Font toolbar. On the Font toolbar, click the options that you want.
