Find and Replace Text

The Find and Replace features allow you to search for specific text in a document. You may then review and / or automatically replace the text that you find.  The Editing Group contains the commands that allow you to Find, Replace, and Select text quickly and easily.

To use the find and replace feature:

  • Go to the Home Tab.


  • Select Find or Replace from the Editing Group.


  • Fill in the appropriate choices.


    • In the "Find what" box, enter the text or numbers you want to search for.

    • In the "Replace with" box, type the information that you want to substitute.

    • You can click on the More button, and select other options as appropriate. Options that you may set, include:

      • Match the case.

      • Find entire words only.

      • Setting the Direction of the search.

    • Click Find Next.

    • When you find the specified information, select the appropriate response:

      • Find Next — Find the next occurrence of the information.

      • Cancel — Close the Find / Replace dialog box.

      • Replace — Replace the original information with the specified data.

      • Replace All — Replace all occurrences of the original information with the specified data.

      Note: To cancel a search in progress, press ESC.

If you simply want to find specified information, and do not need to make a change, use the Find feature.
