Method of Selection

Selection will be done in two stages. The juror will make initial selections from color slides and jpeg images. Artists will be notified of the juror’s decision. Works selected are then submitted for final inspection and assigning of awards by the juror. Works accepted for final inspection may be withheld from the exhibition at the juror’s discretion. While this option is seldom exercised, it is necessary to ensure the quality of the exhibition. The juror’s decision is final.

Specifications

Artists may submit up to three works. Works must be suitable for hanging, and not exceed 80" in any dimension, including frame. Unframed work is acceptable if it is submitted with hanging instructions, special hardware, etc. Artists may submit works with special installation requirements if the artist is available to install. The University of Mary Washington Galleries reserves the right to exclude any entry that presents complex storage or installation problems, or that, in the judgment of the staff and juror, is not a painting.

Entry Fee and Form

A $30 non-refundable fee must accompany the ENTRY FORM , and allows the artist to submit slides of up to three paintings. Please send check or money order made payable to the University of Mary Washington Galleries. Do not send cash.  Lack of fee or an incomplete entry form will disqualify the entry.
