The Galleries support the Art and Art History curriculum at the University, and provide valuable practical experience for the students.

 

 

 

 

 

Classes

Art Museum Studies (Art History 315)

The art museum and its role. Developing and managing collections; interpretation and museum education for diverse publics; design; funding; governance; ethics and values. Course taught through field trips, case studies, practice as well as readings.

 

Employment

Tasks include monitoring galleries, entering data, helping install exhibitions, cataloging artworks, researching in the library, answering phones, etc. Tasks vary with experience and skills. Students may work up to 12 hours per week and absolute reliability is required.
