The centennial of any institution is a landmark in its history. As the University of
Mary Washington celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2008, we will reflect on our
distinguished past, celebrate our many accomplishments today, and anticipate a future
of continued progress.

Everyone connected to the institution will have an opportunity to participate in The
Centennial Celebration 1908-2008 – students, faculty, staff, alumni, Board of Visitors,
and friends, old and new, of UMW. We will make every effort to engage and share our
celebration with the world beyond the institution through publicity, special events,
programs, exhibitions, publications, and dedications, all intended to increase awareness
of and appreciation for what we have done and will do in the future.

To promote consistency during the centennial era, we have created a special logo and
theme and designed guidelines for their use and application to all centennial materials.
Please use these guidelines to assist in the preparation of centennial-related materials for
which you may be responsible. Help is always available from the offices of University
Publications and Design Services.
