UMW Policy on Receiving Consent to Photograph Individuals

The Office of University Publications maintains policies for the University regarding the procedure for hiring photographers and the procedure for acquiring consent from individuals who appear in photos that are for University use.

Taking Photos of Individuals

Any office that takes photos in which individuals are prominently viewable and recognizable must have those individuals sign a release form, granting permission for the University to use those photos for all University-related promotional materials, marketing efforts and productions without restriction.

This is an important legal document that ensures that the photo can be used for a variety of University purposes at any time.

This document must also be signed by the Assistant Vice President of University Publications and kept on file in the publiications office.
