GARI MELCHERS HOME AND STUDIO TO HOST DAFFODIL LUNCHEON, APRIL 4
Fredericksburg, Va. – Gari Melchers Home and Studio will host a Daffodil Luncheon on Wednesday, April 4, at 11 a.m. The event will feature a buffet luncheon, a tour of Belmont’s gardens and a presentation by Peggy Cornett, director of the Thomas Jefferson Center for Historic Plants. The luncheon and lecture are open to the public with an admission fee of $35 per person.
Participants will first tour Belmont’s gardens, home to many old daffodil varieties, some of which are survivors from the Melchers’ period. At noon, lunch will be served in the Studio Pavilion, followed by Cornett’s presentation on “Jefferson’s Belles of the Day – The Bulbs that Bloom at Monticello.” A post-event tour of the house and studio at Belmont also is included.
The Daffodil Luncheon is being held in conjunction with the 73rd annual Daffodil Show, hosted by the Garden Club of Virginia and the Rappahannock Valley Garden Club. For reservations or more information, contact Special Events Coordinator Betsy Labar at (540) 654-1848 or blabar@umw.edu.
