Fredericksburg, Va. – University of Mary Washington 's College of Graduate and Professional Studies (CGPS) will offer courses to prepare adults for the valued Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) professional computer certification beginning Tuesday, January 25.
The non-credit MCSE Windows 2003 training will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 10 p.m. through May 3 at CGPS, located on Route 17 in Stafford County. The course also includes a monthly Saturday session in a computer lab from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
To register or learn more, contact Lynn V. Hamilton, director of the Technology Academy at CGPS, at 540/286-8000 or toll-free 888/692-4968, or send an e-mail to lhamilto@umw.edu. Information also is available at http://cgps.umw.edu/technology_acad/mcse.
The program will be held in a state-of-the-art computer lab at the campus, located on Route 17 in Stafford three miles north of Interstate 95 exit 133.
The instructor-led training prepares individuals to take seven Microsoft exams, including the network security elective that students must pass to earn their MCSE certification. The program provides 128 hours of hands-on instruction with a Microsoft certified network trainer in accordance with Microsoft's rigid standards.
Individuals with MCSE certification can lead the design, installation and administration of the most advanced Microsoft Windows platform and server products. The MCSE credential is essential for systems or technical support engineers, network and systems analysts and technical consultants, as well as any other IT professionals who need an overview of the latest technological innovations for continuing professional advancement.
Once students complete the MCSE training, they can take the seven MCSE exams at CGPS, which is now a Pearson VUE testing site. Pearson VUE, an electronic testing business of Pearson Education, administers computer-based exams for leading IT certification programs such as Microsoft, Cisco and IBM, as well as CompTIA.
Financial aid is available. CGPS also can arrange contract and in-house programs for private and public organizations.
