NEW FAMILY-FRIENDLY PROGRAMS OFFERED AT BELMONT IN JANUARY AND FEBRUARY
Fredericksburg, Va. – Gari Melchers Home and Studio introduces a new family-friendly way to explore art and learn more about American artist Gari Melchers (1860-1932) at his Belmont estate in Falmouth.
Two Sundays ? Sunday, January 22 and Sunday, February 19 ? have been specifically set aside to encourage children and their parents to explore Melchers art, housed in his 1924 stone studio, and the 18th century house and gardens that Gari and his wife Corinne called home.
Geared towards children ages 4 and older, special interactive house tours include hands-on objects and a child-friendly focus. A scavenger hunt, age-appropriate studio activity pages and a do-it-yourself art room are all included in the price of admission. House tours will be conducted on the hour and half-hour from 1-3:30 p.m. while the studio and art room will be open continuously.
The cost of admission is $7 for adults and $1 for children ages 6-18. Children under the age of 5 are free. No reservations are required.
For more information about the day’s activities, contact Public Programs Coordinator Michelle Crow-Dolby at (540) 654-1851 or mdolby@umw.edu.
