PROJECT MANAGEMENT SEMINARS OFFERED IN MARCH AT UMW’S COLLEGE OF GRADUATE AND PROFESSIONAL STUDIES
Fredericksburg, Va. – The University of Mary Washington’s College of Graduate and Professional Studies will offer introductory and advanced project management seminars March 11-12 and March 18-19.
The “Building Project Management Skills” seminar will be held Friday, March 11 from 1 to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday, March 12, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The registration deadline is Monday, March 7. The seminar is intended for individuals who want an overview of the essential stages of project management. Participants will learn to effectively manage public or private sector projects and create a competitive project study.
The “Skills Update for Experienced Project Managers: Financial Evaluation and Control” seminar will be held Friday, March 18, from 1 to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday, March 19, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The last day to register for the seminar is Monday, March 14. This seminar is designed for project management professionals ready to learn to apply, design and deploy financial evaluation and control strategies to projects in the public and private sectors.
The College of Graduate and Professional Studies is a Project Management Institute (PMI®) Registered Education Provider and a Virginia Information Technologies Agency Approved Training Partner.
The seminars are designed and taught by Raul Chavez, an assistant professor of leadership and management at the University of Mary Washington, who has more than 20 years of experience in project management and business administration and holds a doctorate in business administration. Dr. Chavez developed the University’s master of business administration concentration in project management and a graduate certificate in project management.
The fee for each seminar is $450 for members of PMI® or of the Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce, $475 for nonmembers, and $425 each for three or more individuals from the same organization. The charge includes participant materials, refreshments, Saturday lunch and certificate.
The seminars will be held at the College of Graduate and Professional Studies on Route 17 in Stafford County, three miles north of I-95 exit 133. The College offers programs that allow working adults to acquire or maintain professional certification, complete undergraduate degrees and earn master’s degrees.
Both project management seminars are aimed at private-sector managers and project team leaders, public-sector administrators, government support contractors and human resource professionals.
