UMW MORTAR BOARD CHAPTER TO SPONSOR WALK-A-THON, MARCH 25
Fredericksburg, Va. – The University of Mary Washington Cap and Gown Chapter of Mortar Board will sponsor a Walk-A-Thon to benefit the Thurman Brisben Center on Saturday, March 25. The three-mile walk through downtown Fredericksburg will begin at 11 a.m. at the UMW Battleground Athletic Complex and end at the main gates of the university.
Community members are encouraged to walk or sponsor participants. The goal of the walk is $2,000 for an on-site career facility at the Thurman Brisben Center, which is the only homeless shelter servicing the Fredericksburg area.
Mortar Board is a national senior honorary recognizing those students who combine outstanding records of scholarship, leadership, and service. Founded as a women’s honorary in 1918, it has been open to both men and women since 1976.
