Community Service
Show your appreciation for a fellow employee who volunteers his/her own time in non-profit community activities or serves as the "extra pair of hands" in UMW activities.
Paul Griggs: Paul travels with the students for Alternative Spring Break serving as a mentor and providing a great example of "serving others"! ~A Coworker
Sharon Teabo: Dr. Teabo gives many hours of her personal time to help children with disabilities access a summer day camp program, called Camp of Hope. She trains our students to use assistive technology which helps make camp an enjoyable experience for all the campers. Dr. Teabo works throughout the year to develop activities which will help the day camp run more smoothly the following year. Her commitment makes a huge difference in how these kids feel about themselves and experience summer. Thank you for all of your hard work on Camp of Hope and help in making camp a great experience for kids with disabilities! ~ Nicole Myers
Clint Often : Anyone who's been to a UMW sporting event knows that Clint does everything - calls games, records stats, takes photos, gets the stories posted online and to the media, and more! He definitely does a lot to serve the UMW community! ~ Teresa Mannix
Patsy Hockaday: Patsy is always working for a good cause. Most of the time it's for the cancer fund. She is also very active in her church. Thank you Patsy for all you do for others. ~Betty Bradshaw
Edith Jett: Edith is always doing something to help others. She sings at two nursing homes a month. She helps pick up trash on the highway near where she lives. She is always lending a hand to help someone. She serves on several committes at her church. Thanks for all you do for others. ~Betty Bradshaw
Betty Bradshaw: Like me, Betty also sings at two nursing homes twice a month. While at the nursing homes, Betty will take time to visit with some of the patients. She has, in the past, helped care for her in-laws during their later years both at home and at the nursing home. She also is a Sunday School teacher at her church and serves on several committees. ~Edith Jett
Janet West: Janet, CGPS fiscal assistant, exemplifies "community service" with her leadership in Boys Scouts. She coordinates on regional and national levels, as well as day-to-day events in Stafford County. Thank you Janet for your dedication to the support of the youth in our area, even though you have only lived here four years! ~Carolyn Chewning
