Show your appreciation for fellow employeess who consistently provide a high level of service; communicate effectively with customers about services, policies, and procedures; and always treat customers with dignity and respect.


Zafeer Mobashar: Zafeer exhibts excellent customer service skills everyday. He always goes above and beyond to ensure each of our clients at the JAEC well taken care of during their events. There is never a time that he does not think about our customers first. Thanks Zafeer, Susan Worrell

Nancy Allain: Nancy defines what "customer service" really means - she puts our customers first and treats each one as if they are the only one! She will take whatever measures necessary, following all policies and procedures, to make sure their needs are met, their orders processed timely, and they know exactly when to expect them. She keeps the communication lines open and goes above and beyond the call of duty for each customer. She is a tremendous asset to the University of Mary Washington. ~Mary Blackmoor

Roxanne Ehardt: Roxanne is very committed to her job. She wants to make purchasing a department that her fellow employees enjoy working with. ~K.C. McCullough

Donna Jenkins and Alicia Tisdale: Donna and Alicia, UMW's cashiers, consistently provide assistance to students, parents, and the UMW community. Their cheerfulness and willingness to go the 'extra' step exemplify quality customer service. ~ M. Smith

Bob Tinnell: Bob is always available to help you in a pinch. I have locked myself out many times, and he never gives me a hard time. Just a smile! Thanks Bob! ~ D. Bayer

Paul Griggs: Paul always provides a calm demeanor when handling Student Accounts inquiries and goes "above and beyond" to provide needed information. ~ An "Observer"

Tommy Pack: Tommy is incredibly kind and courteous every time I need to reset my password or have any questions. He is knowledeable and helpful. Thanks Tommy! ~D. Bayer

Joe Cutry: Joe goes above and beyond his every day work duties. He is professional, knowledgeble, and a dedicated employee. UMW is lucky to have him here. ~John Adami

Betty Sizemore: Betty greets everyone she meets as she would a "special friend." Betty started working as a part time employee in Development and is now a full time employee in the Advancement office as our Customer Service Representative. Besides juggling her various duties, she is our official "go to" person for all types of information. Internally, Betty has a database of knowledge that is irreplaceable and benefits our constituents and staff. Thank you Betty, for being a wonderful first impression at the Jepson Alumni Executive Center. ~ Peggy Simpkins

Brooke Kingsley: Brooke is not only efficient and effective in her work, she ALWAYS has a smile and nice things to say to folks. She routinely goes out of her way to help students, parents and staff as they navigate the complex corridors of GW Hall. Thanks, Brooke! ~ Rick Pearce

Mia Fitzgerald: Mia spends a lot of time working with UMW employees to solve web-related problems or create new web sites. She always is quick to respond to these employees when they need help, and the results are always great! ~ Teresa Mannix

Cheri Lumpkin: Cheri is devoted to the University and all who work here. She is generous with her time and attention and will always provide respect and courtesy to all who call upon her. Our Community knows that Cheri can be counted on and trusted to provide accurate and timely information on some down-right confusing systems and procedures! Sharon Gibson: Thanks to Sharon and the rest of the crew who are always polite and extremely helpful in assisting with needs in GW - 1st floor. This group provides much of their "service" before the rest of us even arrive - so we don't get the opportunity to voice our appreciation. ~GW111 Resident

Melissa Myers: Melissa is amazing! Each time I call the work order management desk--and it's pretty often--she answers with a smile, friendly words, and a willingness to help. No matter the problem, she finds a solution; and in difficult times, Melissa finds a way to sneak in humor. You're the best, Melissa! :) ~Natalie J. Ellis

Vickie Chapman: At the forefront of Vickie's mind is always how the end-user or the customer will perceive this. Mary White: Mary is "customer service". She is always pleasant to the students, staff, co-workers and other visitors in the Office of the Registrar. Mary has a pleasant way about her, even when she has to say no. :) The students love her. Thanks for doing such a good job Mary. ~Betty Bradshaw

Angela Andrews: Angela has been invaluable when helpng with preparation of laboratory exercises. Her valued attention to cleanliness and sterile technique when preparing laboratory solutions and glassware increases the efficiency and success of laboratory exercises. Her help with standardizing field testing equipment is critical for the success of gathering trusted data.~ Michael L. Bass

Kathy Johnson: Kathy is resourceful, responsive, responsible, respectful, and reliable. If she doesn't know the answer immediately, she'll find it. In the eight years I've worked with Kathy, I have come to truly value her advice and expertise. ~ Donna Raab

Patrick O'Connor: Patrick is a most valued assistant in getting equipment operational, making suggestions for improved efficiency, and improving the overall effectiveness of laboratory and field educational experiences that we provide for student learning. ~Michael L. Bass

Kimberly Lansdale: Since Kimberly has joined us, the efficency of the secretary's office duties have increased dramatically. She is always extremely helpful with her assistance which increases the effectiveness of all of the science faculties performance of their duties in class and lab.~Michael L. Bass

Tommy Pack: Tommy consistently provides excellent customer service at the Help Desk. He demonstrates patience, professionalism and courtesy on a daily basis. I am very fortunate to have Tommy in User Services. ~Rose Hurley

Peggy Lepp: Peggy spends countless hours processing requests for Admissions materials to both internal staff and external offices. She provides excellent customer service. Her sense of humor and attention to detail are two of her greatest strengths. ~Sharon Burns

Registrar's Office: The Registrar's Office is always ready and willing to help whenever we have a crisis and when we do not. ~T. Smith, Education Department

Jessica Connolly: Jessica is great!! We have many room requests and little problems over the year and she always comes through! ~ Tember Smith

Vickie Chapman: Vickie always has the best interest of Banner and eVA users at heart. She is thoughtful and dedicated and always makes sure we have the tools we need. Vickie, thank you for everything you do. ~ A grateful colleague

Jennifer Batson: Jennifer is the pioneer "Academic Information Specialist" for CGPS's One-Stop-Shop program. Jennifer provides exceptional customer service to all her come her way . . . walk-in or telephone. She researches for information she doesn't know and never makes anyone feel inferior. Kathleen Tillery: The manner in which you make sick students feel comfortable at the front desk in the Health Center is very much appreciated. You are an important part of our team! ~ Susanne Deleon

Tammy Prailey: There is just no stopping this employee when it comes to customer service. Tammy is our office manager and demonstrates exemplary consideration for the needs of our internal and external customers. ~ Sabrina Johnson

Lorenzo Johnson: Thank you for all your help in the Office of the Registrar. He is always very calm and thorough, and doesn't make you feel like you don't know what you're doing...even when you sometimes really don't know what your're doing...:) ~Betty Bradshaw

Larry Atkins: Larry constantly juggles numerous "to do" items, many which seem to pop up at the last minute and are "urgent"! He is always cheerful and willing to find a way to make all work satisfactory. Thank you Larry for your wonderful support and assistance at CGPS. ~Carolyn

Barry Buchanan: Barry always comes when I call no matter what time of the day it is. Barry has been invaluable to the Student Health Center. Thank you for all you do. ~Janice White

Jane Johnson: Jane is at CGPS early every day to be sure the building is opened and to assist people attending events locate where they need to be. She volunteers to work extra hours in the afternoons and evenings to provide emergency coverage for the front desk. Jane's dependability and willingness to be the "WD 40" that keeps CGPS communications working for students and employees is very much appreciated by everyone. ~ Carolyn Chewning

George Johnson and Raymond Newton: George and Raymond are great!! They do such a wonderful job of setting events up for everyone...sometimes with very little time between events. I really think they are underappreciated. ~Tember Smith

Housekeeping Staff: The housekeeping workers work very hard to keep our buildings clean for us! They are truly appreciated! ~Tember Smith

John Adami: John is a wonderful example of customer service. He always goes the extra mile.
He always has a can do adituide and a smile on his face. It is a pleasure to work with such a pleasent person. ~fellow worker

Jamie Abernathy: Jamie consistently goes above and beyond to make sure that both prospective and admitted students and their families feel special and welcomed. Her dedication is very much appreciated! ~Pam Verbeck

Susan Worrell and Susan Mullane: Susan and Susan exemplify customer service. Every person that stays at the Kalnen Inn, rents space at the JAEC or holds an event here is treated with the highest level of service. I often here how everything is done right when Susan and Susan are involved and that is so true. They always have smiles for everyone and always find a way to make things work. You will never hear them say something simply can not be done, instead they say "let's see how we can make that work for you". Susan and Susan serve as the model for customer service and I love working with them. ~ Linda Catullo
