George Washington HallFredericksburg Campus
About this building
Known affectionately as "GW," students, staff and faculty get to know this building very well in their stay at UMW. Housing everything from advising and registration to the President's Office, GW was constructed in 1938 and named for George Washington, the first president of the United States, and son of Mary Washington, the University's namesake. GW also houses the magnificent Dodd Auditorium, home of the annual Fredericksburg Forum and a broad range of cultural events sponsored by the University and regional arts groups. For information on the offices found in GW, click on "Who's in this building?" above.
