College of Business MBA Admission Requirements
Required forms and documents:
- Completed application for admission (free to submit). You can find the application online.
- Official transcripts of all undergraduate and graduate coursework.
- Résumé outlining work experience and education
- A goal statement describing the applicant’s professional goals (500-word minimum).
- Two letters of recommendation (preferably from a current or previous supervisor or former college instructor).

UMW offers MBA courses in various formats such as (hybrid, online, and face-to-face). Including an evening program at our Stafford campus. Most classes meet one night per week for eight weeks. You could take a full course load to finish in two years or less or take one course at a time. Degree completion must be achieved within six years.

Taylor Johnson, MBA ‘16
Taylor Johnson, a graduate assistant in UMW’s athletic department, MBA ’16. Works in sports information and facility management. He felt a master’s degree would give him an edge in reaching his career goals in athletic administration. Johnson was a star Eagles basketball player. He also studied business at UMW as an undergrad. He has enjoyed learning from some of the same professors who already served as his mentors. “Earning a master’s degree will help me jump-start my career,” Johnson said. “The MBA program has helped me sharpen my skills to become a well-rounded business student. I really enjoy the structure of the classes, which revolve around discussion.”
