Degree Completion Timeline
UMW offers MBA courses in various formats such as (hybrid, online, and face-to-face). Including an evening program at our Stafford campus. Similarly, most classes meet one night per week for eight weeks. For example, you could take a full course load to finish in two years or less or take one course at a time. To clarify, degree completion must be achieved within six years.
MBA Course Requirements (36 credits).
Required Core Courses (30 credits) — all courses are GBUS courses and are 3 credits each.
501 Foundations of Accounting and Quantitative Analysis.
502 Foundations of Global Marketing and Management.
503 Foundations of Financial Markets.
521 Leadership and Organizational Behavior.
523 Marketing Strategy.
525 Management Information Systems.
526 Quantitative Business Modeling.
527 Accounting for Decision Making and Control.
528 Financial Management.
529 Strategic Management.
After that, electives (6 credits).
Importantly, six (6) additional credits from any other 500-level GBUS or MMIS course.

Taylor Johnson, MBA ‘16
As a result, Taylor Johnson, a graduate assistant in UMW’s athletic department, MBA ’16. Consequently, works in sports information and facility management. Certainly, he felt a master’s degree would give him an edge in reaching his career goals in athletic administration. In addition to Johnson being a star Eagles basketball player. He also studied business at UMW as an undergrad. Moreover, he has enjoyed learning from some of the same professors who already served as his mentors. For example, “Earning a master’s degree will help me jump-start my career,” Johnson said. Additionally, “the MBA program has helped me sharpen my skills to become a well-rounded business student. I really enjoy the structure of the classes, which revolve around discussion.”
