Dear UMW Students:<\/p>

Following up on President Paino’s letter to the UMW community about the University’s move to remote instruction for the rest of the semester, this communication contains specific information regarding next steps for residential students. Please read it carefully, as there are several important dates to know and to note.<\/p>

All residential students, regardless of whether they have registered to remain on campus<\/a>, must fill out this form<\/strong> (Chrome or Firefox).<\/p>

Residential students who have registered to remain on campus<\/h2>

Given CDC and Virginia Department of Health advisories and emergency actions, students currently registered to remain on campus should pack their belongings and return home as soon as possible. For these students, the deadline to leave campus is Sunday March 22. Students must drop their key between 8am and 9pm at the Eagle Landing Front Desk.<\/p>

Petition to remain on campus<\/h2>

There are a few students for whom campus is the only feasible living option for the remainder of the semester. Only students currently registered to remain on campus for the duration of the semester may petition to remain on campus through the form above<\/em>. These requests will be reviewed for approval by Residence Life and Housing and must include extraordinary reasons for remaining on campus. Starting next week, Residence Life and Housing staff will be contacting these students individually to determine what they need to be successful while on campus or, alternatively, what they might need to return home. Please be aware that in the coming weeks, we may relocate all remaining students to one or more buildings.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>

Residential students who have not registered to remain on campus and need to retrieve their belongings<\/h2>

In response to public health advisories recommending gatherings of less than ten people, we will allow non-registered students to retrieve their belongings after the registered students have moved out. Starting Tuesday March 24, we will reactivate card access for all non-registered residential students in order to allow them to retrieve their belongings from March 24-April 1 any day between 8:00 AM and 9:00 PM.<\/strong> They must fill out the form above notifying us when they plan to come to campus. Students must drop their key at the Eagle Landing Front Desk. Please note these dates are subject to change based on advisories from the CDC and other state and federal officials.<\/p>

Dining<\/h2>

For students who remain on campus, UMW Dining will continue as indicated herein. If this changes, we will inform you as soon as possible.<\/p>

Student Employment<\/h2>

We recognize that several of you remain employed on campus. With the University’s decision to move to remote instruction through the remainder of the semester, we suggest that you contact your supervisor regarding next steps.<\/p>

Already, campus feels very lonely without you. Graduating seniors, you are particularly in our thoughts. Please know that we will keep working to ensure that you, our students, stay at the center of everything we do at Mary Washington.<\/p>
