To have an internship recorded on your transcript, you must submit an internship contract on <a href=\"http:\/\/umw.joinhandshake.com\/experiences\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Handshake<\/a> for approval. Internship contracts are agreements between students, employers, and faculty to collaborate on facilitating high-quality work-based learning experiences. There are two types of internship contracts: academic credit and zero-credit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"umw-accordion-container umw-custom-block\" data-only-one=\"true\">\n<div class=\"umw-collapsible-section umw-custom-block\"><div class=\"accordion__question\" data-js-question=\"true\"><button class=\"accordion__question__trigger\" data-js-trigger=\"true\">Academic Credit Internships<\/button><div class=\"accordion__question__answer\">\n<p>Academic credit internships must be evaluated by a faculty member and approved by an academic department and the Office of the Registrar to qualify for credit. To be eligible for credit, internships must incorporate a hands-on experience per the duties outlined in the contract and include academic components which are determined at the discretion of the faculty sponsor. The academic department from which credit is requested has the final decision on approval of the internship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link wp-element-button\" href=\"http:\/\/umw.joinhandshake.com\/experiences\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Submit an Academic Credit Internship Contract<div class='arrow'><\/div><\/a><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"umw-collapsible-section umw-custom-block\"><div class=\"accordion__question\" data-js-question=\"true\"><button class=\"accordion__question__trigger\" data-js-trigger=\"true\">Zero-Credit Internships<\/button><div class=\"accordion__question__answer\">\n<p>Zero-credit internships must be evaluated and approved by Michael Dunn (mdunn2@umw.edu), Director of the Center for Career and Professional Development, and the Office of the Registrar to qualify for recording on transcripts. To be eligible for a grade of \u201cSatisfactory,\u201d zero-credit internships must incorporate a hands-on experience per the duties outlined in the contract and include an opportunity for students to reflect on their experiences.
