Intercultural Competence Requirements<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

3 approved courses OR 102 courses + substantive intercultural experience<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You\u2019ll take at least 1 of these core courses:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • WGST 101 \u2013 Intro to Women\u2019s Studies<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • SOCG 155 \u2013 Social Issues<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • ANTH 101 \u2013 Intro to Cultural and Social Anthropology<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    And choose 2 additional electives from the above list or these below:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    • SOCG 215 \u2013 Gender and Society<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • SOCG 221 \u2013 Racial and Ethnic Relations<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • ANTH 211 \u2013 Race in Global Perspective<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • ANTH 212 \u2013 The Anthropology of Gender<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • ANTH 350 – Amazonian Societies<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • HIST 462 \u2013 Women in Latin America<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • MDFL 201 \u2013 World Literature in Cultural Context<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • A qualifying and approved education abroad experience in a country that has previously hosted Peace Corps volunteers and which is approved by UMW\u2019s Center for International Education (counts as 1 elective)*<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • An approved community service experience<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • An internship (499 course) that qualifies as an intercultural experience of at least 40 hours and which has been approved by the Peace Corps Prep Coordinator (counts as 1 elective)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
