As the demand for cybersecurity professionals increases in the Fredericksburg region, so too does the margin for job opportunity for our students who want to advance their career in the IT field. One of the best ways to improve your skills is getting CISSP certified. The CISSP certification is meant for experienced cybersecurity professionals who want to elevate their level of expertise in designing, engineering, and managing cybersecurity programs. Consider taking the CISSP exam if you are working as one of the following job titles: Security Analyst, IT Director, Chief Information Officer, or any related careers.<\/p>\n

Earning a CISSP certification is considered a global standard of excellence in the cybersecurity world, and the exam is challenging. Clocking in at six hours long, with 250 multiple choice and advanced questions, the exam requires adequate preparation to do well. This May, UMW<\/a> will be offering a CISSP exam preparation course<\/a> for cybersecurity professionals to strengthen their knowledge of all eight domains, as designated by the (ISC)2<\/sup>.     Registering for your CISSP exam prep course with UMW ensures that you\u2019ll receive tailored training to what\u2019s on the exam. UMW has designed this test prep course based on the official coursework of (ISC)2<\/sup>– the organization that administers the exam and grants the credential. The course follows a thorough review of (ISC)2<\/sup>\u2019s Book of Knowledge (BoK), and students will have the opportunity to assess which CISSP domains they are weak in and will improve upon them through practical application of cybersecurity principles.       UMW offers three timeline options for the CISSP training course: an accelerated, five-day bootcamp, a seven-week course meeting some Saturdays, or a twelve-week course. We value your time, which is why we\u2019ve designed three different course structures to accommodate both our professionals with time sensitivities and those who need a more leisurely schedule. The current offering is for the seven-week course.<\/p>\n

        The course is taught by Romeo Gardner<\/a>, a local cybersecurity expert and founder and CEO of Nehlos. His extensive experience includes working for Microsoft and assisting the White House as an Information Assurance Analyst. With more than a decade of IT experience, Romeo is also the founder of Empower Now Technologies, LLC. His company focuses on \u201cchanging lives through technology\u201d by offering cybersecurity services and professional training in CISSP and other IT industry certifications. Romeo is also an authorized (ISC)2<\/sup> instructor for the CISSP exam. He is knowledgeable and passionate about teaching other industry professionals the eight domains.<\/p>\n
