We have research librarians who can help students find relevant research and articles, we have most required textbooks available for students, and we can get you almost anything else you need through our interlibrary loan service \u2013 all completely free to you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The collections at Simpson Library encompass approximately 350,000 print books, including <a href=\"https:\/\/library.umw.edu\/govdocs\">federal depository publications<\/a>. Additionally, the library offers nearly 900,000 ebooks and over 250,000 print and online journals. We also have substantial collections in streaming video and other media, such as maps, and music. Additionally, the library currently licenses about 200 databases, which includes about 120 databases that are centrally provided by Virginia\u2019s Academic Library Consortium (VIVA). The Library\u2019s Special Collections &amp; University Archives holds over 1,700 rare books and more than 2,000 linear feet of archival material.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stop by the soft-seating area on the first floor, with its shelves of popular reading volumes, movies on DVD, comfortable chairs, and a casual atmosphere that invites conversation and relaxation. Use the second floor for quiet conversations and plenty of places to study. The third floor is for absolute quiet, and features our famous 2-story \u201ctreehouses.\u201d A full list of offerings and services can be found on the library\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/library.umw.edu\/library\">extensive website<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-world-ready-career-center\">World Ready: Career Center<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.umw.edu\/careercenter\/students\/appointments\/\">Drop-ins and one-on-one individualized coaching appointments<\/a> provide students with direct counseling on such topics as career exploration, job search strategies, and personal brand development as well as resume critiques and interview prep.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Whether you\u2019re exploring majors or searching for information about your chosen field, our resource <a href=\"https:\/\/whatcanidowiththismajor.com\/major\/majors\/\">What Can I Do With This Major<\/a> will help you connect majors to careers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Our job and internship database, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.umw.edu\/careercenter\/handshake\/\">Handshake,<\/a> is a simple but powerful tool that helps you find the best fit from more than 1,000,000 jobs and internships posted by 200,000 companies, non-profits, and government organizations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Need help with your resume, cover letter, purpose statement, or any other application materials? Our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.umw.edu\/careercenter\/contact\/staff\/\">Career Coaches<\/a>, along with our online <a href=\"https:\/\/www.umw.edu\/careercenter\/students\/toolkit\/\">Toolkit<\/a>, are here to help.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.umw.edu\/careercenter\/students\/big-interview\/\">Big Interview<\/a> is a free, online training system that features an innovative way to help students improve their interview\/presentation technique and build confidence.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCWYfj6FV0jH60WZXG0k5nRA\">The Career Center Youtube channel<\/a> houses dozens of videos ranging from resume workshops, employer information sessions, and alumni testimonials.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-office-of-disability-resources\">Office of Disability Resources<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Office of Disability Resources (ODR) coordinates reasonable and appropriate accommodations for qualified students with disabilities. These accommodations are based on individual student profiles and may include \u2013 but are not limited to \u2013 extended time on tests, note-taking assistance, accessible dorm rooms, sign language interpreters, electronic texts, and distraction-reduced testing sites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In order to receive services, students must provide professional documentation of a substantially limiting condition and discuss appropriate accommodations with the ODR.
