Half-time enrollment for graduate students is five graduate level credit hours per semester. A combination of 8 and 16 week courses can be taken.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Students enrolled in other non-degree certificate programs or enrolled less than half-time, are only eligible for alternative loans.<\/strong>  <strong>Federal Direct Loans require half-time.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-vertical is-layout-flex wp-container-core-group-is-layout-8cf370e7 wp-block-group-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"umw-collapsible-section umw-custom-block\"><div class=\"accordion__question\" data-js-question=\"true\"><button class=\"accordion__question__trigger\" data-js-trigger=\"true\">Graduate Student Financial Aid Timeline<\/button><div class=\"accordion__question__answer\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td>Prior to October 1<\/td><td>Students: Create a Federal Student Aid ID, so that you can complete your <a href=\"https:\/\/studentaid.gov\/fsa-id\/create-account\/launch\">FAFSA<\/a> after October 1 of the year prior to admission.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>October 1<\/td><td><a href=\"https:\/\/studentaid.gov\/h\/apply-for-aid\/fafsa\">FAFSA<\/a> available! <\/td><\/tr><tr><td>February 1<\/td><td><a href=\"https:\/\/umw.scholarships.ngwebsolutions.com\">UMW Online Scholarship Manager<\/a> open. Apply for UMW Scholarships!<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>April 1<\/td><td>While there is no FAFSA deadline for graduate students, we encourage students to submit early, so that the student bill will be paid by the billing deadline.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>May 15<\/td><td>Online Scholarship Application Deadline \u2013 11:59 pm.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Mid-July<\/td><td>Bills sent out to students and <a href=\"https:\/\/adminfinance.umw.edu\/studentaccounts\/eaglepay\/\">Authorized Payers<\/a><\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Early August<\/td><td>Review your <a href=\"https:\/\/quikpayasp.com\/umw\/studentaccounts\/payer.do\">EaglePay<\/a> account and ensure you are ready for the start of the semester!<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How and When to Apply<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Students interested in applying for financial aid must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/studentaid.gov\/h\/apply-for-aid\/fafsa\">https:\/\/studentaid.gov\/h\/apply-for-aid\/fafsa<\/a>.&nbsp;In order for results from the FAFSA to download into the UMW financial aid system, students must have applied for admission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Office of Financial Aid determines eligibility for financial assistance after a student\u2019s acceptance into a program.
