{"id":1366,"date":"2023-11-01T15:29:38","date_gmt":"2023-11-01T19:29:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.umw.edu\/financialaid\/?page_id=1366"},"modified":"2026-06-03T10:21:16","modified_gmt":"2026-06-03T14:21:16","slug":"award-notifications","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.umw.edu\/financialaid\/process\/award-notifications\/","title":{"rendered":"Award Notifications"},"content":{"rendered":"<?xml encoding=\"utf-8\" ?><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-award-notifications\">Award Notifications<\/h2><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-first-year-financial-aid\">First Year Financial Aid<\/h3><p>The Office of Financial Aid begins notifying incoming first-years of their estimated financial aid packages in early December. &nbsp;The initial award packet is available through the students Admissions Portal. It includes the student&rsquo;s estimated financial aid award (based on the results of the FAFSA if received), a list of required documentation\/forms, and important instructions for accessing the student&rsquo;s financial aid through Banner. If there is an adjustment to the initial award package, the student will receive notification through their UMW email account, instructing them to review the changes through Banner.<\/p><p>Primary communication, award letters and documentation needed is in the admissions portal until students deposit and are enrolled.<\/p><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Continuing Student Financial Aid<\/h3><p>Continuing student financial aid packages are created in mid-to-late May, after the previous semester grades have been posted. Continuing students will receive an email notification to their UMW email account instructing them to review their award through their Banner account. Any adjustments to the initial award package will result in the student receiving notification through their UMW email account, instructing them to review the changes through Banner.<\/p><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Reviewing Financial Aid Awards through Banner Self-Service<\/h3><ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Go to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.umw.edu\/in\/\">umw.edu\/in <\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on the Banner box (make sure to scroll down) -&gt; Click Banner SSB, and sign in<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click the top left waffle icon; Select Banner then select &lsquo;Financial Aid&rsquo; then &lsquo;Financial Aid Self Service&rsquo;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select &lsquo;Offer&rsquo; from the top menu and scroll to the bottom of the page.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong><em>To Accept\/Decline Loans &amp; Federal Work Study Complete the remaining steps<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Scroll to &lsquo;Options to Pay Net Cost&rsquo; and use the drop-down box to accept\/decline the loans offered to you.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use the drop box to accept or decline your loans (the empty box to the right of the loans can be used to accept a partial amount) and hit submit. The accepted amount will be split between the fall and spring semesters.
