Any transaction\/update to the FAFSA can trigger verification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The federal government requires colleges and universities to verify or confirm the information on a student\u2019s FAFSA. This process ensures that students receive all the financial aid to which they are eligible and prevents students that are not eligible from receiving financial aid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students selected for verification are required to complete a verification form, along with other types of requested documentation. There are several different types of verification (V1, V4, V5). Each verification type has different requirements based on students\u2019 unique situations. Students are only selected for one type of Verification and therefore only need to complete one corresponding Verification Worksheet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Verification documents can be completed on our&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.umw.edu\/financialaid\/process\/forms\/\">forms page<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All parents and&nbsp;<em>independent<\/em>&nbsp;students will be required by federal regulation to submit all W2\u2019s or other wage statements.
