Student Employment<\/h2>

The University of Mary Washington employs approximately 700 student positions across 95 departments. <\/p>

To be eligible for student employment, a student must be enrolled at least half time (6 credits for undergraduate students or 5 credits for graduate students) and in a degree-seeking program. <\/p>

For summer employment, a student must be in a degree-seeking program, at least half-time enrollment in the previous spring term and at least half-time enrollment in the following fall term. Enrollment during the summer is not a requirement for summer employment.<\/p>

Advantages of Student Employment<\/h3>

Gaining practical experience is essential for students to develop the skills needed into today’s workplace. As a student employee, there are opportunities to build professional relationships within the campus community. These type of connections can produce mentorships, internships, and possible future job opportunities.<\/p>

Student employee supervisors understand students are students first. Most supervisors permit a flexible work schedule to accommodate a student’s academic studies which allow the student to focus on their academic success while obtaining real world experience.<\/p>
