Student Employment<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The University of Mary Washington employs approximately 700 student positions across 95 departments. The Financial Aid Office coordinates the hiring process for each of these positions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To be eligible for student employment, a student must be enrolled at least half time (6 credits for undergraduate students or 5 credits for graduate students) and in a degree-seeking program. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For summer employment, a student must be in a degree-seeking program, at least half-time enrollment in the previous spring term and at least half-time enrollment in the following fall term. Enrollment during the summer is not a requirement for summer employment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Advantages of Student Employment<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Gaining practical experience is essential for students to develop the skills needed into today’s workplace. As a student employee, there are opportunities to build professional relationships within the campus community. These type of connections can produce mentorships, internships, and possible future job opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Student employee supervisors understand students are students first. Most supervisors permit a flexible work schedule to accommodate a student’s academic studies which allow the student to focus on their academic success while obtaining real world experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
