Even her well-known relationships (not only with Antony, but Julius Caesar) were carefully chosen connections with the most powerful Romans of the era, attempts to salvage her kingdom and produce heirs. \u00a0But because she lost to the Romans, since virtually the day of her death she has been depicted as an evil, promiscuous, and \u00a0dangerous woman. \u00a0\u00a0In reality, her ideas of monarchy were highly influential in the developing Roman Empire, and she was worshipped as a cultic figure in Egypt into late antiquity. \u00a0The lecture will dispose of some of the myths about Cleopatra and present the real queen as one of the most important rulers in ancient history.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"color: #b81237;font-weight: 900;font-family: MuseoSlab\">Speaker: Duane Roller<\/h2>\n<p><figure id=\"attachment_47671\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-47671\" style=\"width: 207px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-47671\" src=\"http:\/\/umwwebmaster.wpengine.com\/greatlives\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2012\/11\/Duane-Roller-300x227.jpg\" alt=\"Duane Roller\" width=\"207\" height=\"157\" srcset=\"\/\/www.umw.edu\/greatlives\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2012\/11\/Duane-Roller-300x227.jpg 300w, \/\/www.umw.edu\/greatlives\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2012\/11\/Duane-Roller.jpg 864w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 207px) 100vw, 207px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-47671\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Duane W.
