Mukesh Srivastava<\/strong> is a frequent flyer with a penchant for international travel and a mind focused on global business.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Srivastava, associate dean of the College of Business, was noted for his research — on how different groups within an organization interact with each other — at a conference in Thailand in April. He will travel to Ireland at the end of June to present similar research.<\/p>\n

The 2012 recipient of UMW’s Graduate Faculty Award, Srivastava founded the Association of Global Management Studies (AGMS) in 2009 and hosted the first AGMS conference in 2010.<\/p>\n

This year, nine countries were represented at the conference held in the Harvard Faculty Club.<\/p>\n

He aims to hold the conference in New Zealand in 2013.<\/p>\n

\u201cAGMS has given me an enhanced perspective on global thinking,\u201d said Srivastava, who also is associate professor. \u201cThat exchange that I am able to bring to the classroom is useful for my students.\u201d<\/p>\n

Last October, Srivastava spent five weeks in Tunisia as part of a prestigious Fulbright program. He made such an impact that two of his colleagues from the Tunis Business School flew across the Atlantic to attend the AGMS conference.<\/p>\n

His experience with faculty and students at the Tunis Business School provided Srivastava with an invaluable academic exchange and opportunities for collaborative work on the horizon.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey have a focus on the fundamentals, especially in mathematics, that was very impressive,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

While in Tunisia, Srivastava gave seven lectures and taught a management information systems class.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe students were very engaged and friendly,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

In the future, Srivastava hopes to start an exchange program between UMW and the Tunis Business School to continue the collaborative process between the two countries.<\/p>\n

Said Srivastava: \u201cKnowledge creation is a constant pursuit; without it societies would be lost.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
