Additional information and\/or other events can be found on the UMW public calendar. In addition, Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) playoffs will occur during this week, and some events may be hosted by UMW.<\/p>\n<p>President Paino plans to attend as many events as possible during the inauguration week.<!--more--><\/p>\n<h2>Monday, April 17<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Presentation of the University&#8217;s New Wood Fired Kiln by Professor Jon McMillan, 4 p.m., Kiln Site near the Physical Plan behind the Battleground Athletic Fields. Prof. McMillan will discuss the construction and firing of the kiln, show the kiln build in progress, and will detail the differences between this and other types of kilns used to fire ceramic objects. UMW is the only university in Virginia to have a wood fired kiln.<\/li>\n<li>Department of Music Recital Featuring the Faculty Brass Quintet, student UMW String Quartet, and the UMW Jazz Trio. Reception to follow, 7:30 p.m., Pollard Recital Hall, room 304.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Wednesday, April 19<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Annual student art exhibit, student art awards and scholarship announcements, 3 p.m., duPont Gallery.<\/li>\n<li>Bots of Conviction Design Sprint with Audrey Watters,\u00a04 p.m., HCC 407. Join students, faculty, and staff for a look at Twitter bots and how powerful they can be in preparation for Thursday night\u2019s panel discussion in Dodd\u00a0Auditorium<\/li>\n<li>Opening reception, Margaret Sutton Life and Work, curated by students in Professor Marjorie Och\u2019s museum studies course; 5-7 p.m., Ridderhoff Martin Gallery.<\/li>\n<li>5K Glo Run, 8 p.m., Bell Tower. Join President Paino and the UMW community in a 5K run, jog or walk. <a href=\"https:\/\/orgsync.com\/59560\/events\/1872456\/occurrences\/4373084\">Registration required<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Macbeth, 7:30 p.m., Klein Theatre, ticket required. Play will continue April 20-22 at 7:30 p.m. and April 22-23 at 2 p.m.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Thursday, April 20<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Earth Day Festival, 11a.m.-2p.m., Ball Circle. Join the university community to celebrate Earth Day, with student group-hosted tables, free lunch food, and our first on-campus Farmer\u2019s Market.<\/li>\n<li>Panel discussion \u2013 Higher Education in the Disinformation Age: Can America\u2019s public liberal arts universities restore critical thinking and civility in public discourse? 7-8:30 p.m., Dodd Auditorium followed by a reception in Dodd Foyer. Members of PRISM (People for the Rights of Individuals of Sexual Minorities) and allies will lead a moment of silence on Ball Circle in recognition of the Day of Silence.
