Their natural resisting powers should be strengthened, not weakened\u2026. Instead of always harping on a man\u2019s faults, tell him of his virtues. Try to pull him out of his rut of bad habits. Hold up to him his better self, his REAL self that can dare and do and win out! <!--more--><a href=\"https:\/\/www.umw.edu\/lcpw\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2018\/04\/glad-game.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" id=\"longdesc-return-44058\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-44058\" src=\"https:\/\/www.umw.edu\/lcpw\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2018\/04\/glad-game.jpg\" alt=\"Let's Play The Glad Game. People radiate what is in their minds and in their hearts. If a man feels kindly and obliging, his neighbors will feel that way, too, before long. But if he scolds and scowls and criticizes\u2014his neighbors will return scowl for scowl, and add interest! \u2026 When you look for the bad, expecting it, you will get it. When you know you will find the good\u2014you will get that\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u2015 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.goodreads.com\/author\/show\/10673.Eleanor_H_Porter\"><strong>Eleanor H. Porter<\/strong><\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.goodreads.com\/work\/quotes\/1099715\"><strong>Pollyanna<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I love the movie Pollyanna.\u00a0 The other day, I said \u201cthere are at least 800 ways to be glad and rejoice\u201d to two of my children who are 26 and 21. The 21 year old looked at me bewildered.\u00a0 The 26 year old said, \u201cIs that from that movie you use to make us watch where the little girl fell off the roof?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pollyanna&#8217;s philosophy of life centers on what she calls &#8220;The Glad Game,&#8221; an optimistic and positive attitude she learned from her father. The game consists of finding something to be glad about in every situation, no matter how bleak it may be.<\/p>\n<p>There is something to be said about the movies that some of us grew up with that taught us a lesson, values to follow, coping skills, negotiation techniques, charity, simple enjoyments, and yet were still entertaining. Perhaps, if we were to adopt more of these traits and skills there would be more cohesion at work, home and life in general.<\/p>\n<p>Now, I don\u2019t believe that we all have to watch Pollyanna but I do recommend it.\u00a0\u00a0 I do favor other Disney movies too!\u00a0 There have been Disney movies that teach us the circle of life, Ohana, \u00a0and Hakuna Matata!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Linda Caporali, TSYS Account Executive \u201cWhat men and women need is encouragement.
