There are many types of vacations.\u00a0 Some people take vacations and go, go, go.\u00a0 They travel from place to place (as in cities or countries), with the people they\u2019re meeting and experiences they\u2019re enjoying becoming one big blur.\u00a0 Or similarly, maybe a trip to Disney World is the perfect vacation.\u00a0 It\u2019s not what one would call relaxing, but its fun. <\/p>\n

Others like to challenge themselves by hiking, camping, or enjoying extreme sports.\u00a0 Their time away is both physically and mentally challenging.<\/p>\n

At the other end of that spectrum, of course, is the beach trip.\u00a0 Every day is spent enjoying toes in the sand.\u00a0 Perhaps they plant themselves under an umbrella or tent, but they\u2019re on the beach, staring at the water.\u00a0 Many books are read during beach vacations unless, of course, there are small children to be monitored.\u00a0 Then the vacation is not quite as relaxing!<\/p>\n

The \u2018staycation\u2019 has become popular in recent years.\u00a0 As costs to travel rise, many realize there are many fun things to do and see locally.\u00a0 Essentially these people become tourists in their backyard.<\/p>\n

At the end of the day though, vacations are a necessity for employees to maintain their sanity!\u00a0 Organizations give annual leave or paid time off or whatever it is called at your work for a reason.\u00a0 Managers know that refilling an employee\u2019s tank is important!\u00a0 We work so much (some more hours weekly than others, of course) and need to time to recharge our batteries.\u00a0 Getting away does that for us.<\/p>\n

And the other thing we must do\"a<\/a> while on vacation is unplug from our work electronics.\u00a0 OK, while I know this is challenging for many of us (I am guilty here), staying connected to what\u2019s going on in the office is not helping us recharge!\u00a0 Do everything you can in advance of vacation to prepare your coworkers for your absence.\u00a0 And then leave!\u00a0 Few decisions must be made while you\u2019re away.\u00a0 And respect your coworkers by not interrupting their vacations too.<\/p>\n

But take your vacation!\u00a0 And whatever it looks like, enjoy it.<\/p>\n
