Spring Into Your New Season"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>By Susan Coleman, Director of Marketing &amp; Communications for HCA Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I love the saying, \u201cThis too shall pass.\u201d\u00a0 It is an indicator that there is a season of change coming, and if I am in rough spot, it will not last forever.\u00a0 But what if I like where I am?<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Naturally, we are creatures of habit and comfort is something we all try to find.\u00a0 Change, is quite the opposite. It often requires discomfort to make a shift, grow, and reach the next level.\u00a0 Why can\u2019t I stay in the comfort lane of life? Well, I think we all know- nothing in life stays the same.\u00a0 No two days are exact, no two leaves on a tree are the same, identical twins have differences, and even if you\u2019ve been through something before; it is likely not the same experience.\u00a0 Raising kids is a great example. I have two, and after having the first I thought I was a pro.\u00a0 Well, I can say for many reasons, I was totally wrong. I often felt like I had no experience in child rearing with my second child.\u00a0 We are now in the adulting season, and there are constant wind shifts ahead.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" id=\"longdesc-return-44737\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-44737\" src=\"https:\/\/www.umw.edu\/lcpw\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2023\/03\/cherry-blossom-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" longdesc=\"https:\/\/www.umw.edu\/lcpw?longdesc=44737&amp;referrer=44736\" srcset=\"\/\/www.umw.edu\/lcpw\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2023\/03\/cherry-blossom-150x150.jpg 150w, \/\/www.umw.edu\/lcpw\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2023\/03\/cherry-blossom-50x50.jpg 50w, \/\/www.umw.edu\/lcpw\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2023\/03\/cherry-blossom-75x75.jpg 75w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/div>\n<p>March is here and that\u2019s nature\u2019s way of ushering us into a new season. For everything I aspire to do, I can only attain those goals with change.\u00a0 I often laugh at the definition of insanity- doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.\u00a0 I want the comfort, but at the same time I want the results to be better. These two things fight to co-exist.<\/p>\n<p>Instead of mourning what used to be, and figuring out how to stay there, I now want to embrace what could be.\u00a0 Springing into our new season commands our attention. \u00a0The new season will evolve with or without you.<\/p>\n<p>If you are ready to take on your new season- professionally or personally, here are some tips to reduce stress:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Have a flexible plan<\/strong>. Be ready to adjust what you thought it would be when it\u2019s not, (good or bad).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Identify the positives to amplify and embrace<\/strong>. Minimize the negatives to address and move through.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ask for help<\/strong>, if needed. We are human beings meant to do life together and not in isolation. Get the support you need.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Identify and understand the discomfort.<\/strong> There is a root cause, (fear, anxiety, loss, cost, etc.). It may be time to pull some roots and plant new flowers!<\/li>\n<li><strong>Be willing to invest in yourself<\/strong>. You are worth it.
