Award-winning Irish poet Micheal O’Siadhail will read from his work at the University of Mary Washington on Monday, March 10 at 7:30 p.m. The poetry reading, “The Only End of Jazz is Jazz: Micheal O’Siadhail and his Poetry,” will take place in the Woodard Campus Center, Red Room. The event and the reception that will follow are free and open to the public.
O’Siadhail has published 10 collections of poetry as well as several scholarly publications, including “Learning Irish” and “Modern Irish.” He is recipient of the Irish American Cultural Institute prize for poetry and the Marten Toonder prize for literature. Now a full-time writer, O’Siadhail has been a lecturer at Trinity College Dublin and a professor at the Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies.
He was educated at Clongowes Wood College, Trinity College Dublin and the University of Oslo. O’Siadhail was the founding chairman of the Ireland Literature Exchange and a former editor of the Poetry Ireland Review.
