UMW will host Saturday Open Houses on Sept. 21, Oct. 19 and Nov. 9.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Now that school is in session this fall, Saturday Open Houses on Sept. 21, Oct. 19 and Nov. 9 are the perfect opportunity to get to know the University of Mary Washington. With an early Open House event date in September, UMW can be a family\u2019s first visit on their college search, the first choice for students, and for many, the first to let students know they are in.<\/p>\n

UMW Open Houses are free for students and families to attend and recommended for high school juniors and seniors as well as transfer students. High school seniors who have applied early to UMW can also sign up for an expedited application review and on-the-spot admission decision<\/a> during any of the Open House dates.<\/p>\n

\u201cOpen Houses at UMW are distinct from many colleges in the ways we customize them to the student experience. You\u2019ll meet directly with current students; walk through academic programs to hear about more than 100 majors, minors and areas of study; and talk directly with faculty members who could be your lifelong mentors,\u201d said Director of First-Year Admissions Sarah Lindberg. \u201cFor students who have already submitted an application and requested expedited review, you could leave that day celebrating, knowing that Mary Washington is your future college home.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Open House includes a campus tour, a visit to a residence hall, a dining experience on campus, academic interest sessions and detailed information on the Honors Program, Athletics, Transfer Admission and Financial Aid. In short, it\u2019s a quick view of campus life, in the classrooms and beyond, as students share their internship, research and study abroad adventures.<\/p>\n

Students who have applied to UMW can further benefit from the Open House by scheduling an in-person Taking Flight interview during their visit<\/a>. This interview with the admissions team enhances an application and offers up to $2,000 in scholarship awards.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe know there\u2019s more to our students than what\u2019s on paper. This personalized conversation adds depth to your application. It\u2019s your chance to share what truly matters to you,\u201d said Lindberg.<\/p>\n
