The University of Mary Washington has been named in Poets&Quants Best Undergraduate Business Schools of 2025<\/em>, released this morning, March 17.<\/p>\n

The prestigious annual list evaluates undergraduate business schools based on three categories \u2013 admission standards, academic experience and career outcomes \u2013 each weighted at 33.3 percent and counting equally toward schools\u2019 final scores.<\/p>\n

While UMW comes in 84th overall, the University claims 34th in the \u201cacademic experience\u201d category, landing in the survey\u2019s top third, along with Georgetown University and the University of Virginia. Other Virginia schools listed in this year\u2019s Poets&Quants rankings include the College of William and Mary\u2019s Raymond A. Mason School of Business and the University of Richmond\u2019s Robins School of Business.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis recognition highlights our faculty\u2019s expertise, our focus on innovation and the success of our graduates,\u201d said UMW College of Business Dean Filiz Tabak. \u201cIt showcases UMW as a top destination for students seeking a rigorous, hands-on business education with small class sizes, personalized attention and strong career outcomes.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Poets&Quants ranking factors in alumni feedback from the Class of 2022. \u201cWe think two years after graduation is an ideal time to ask alumni to evaluate their programs because they\u2019ve had ample time to gauge their degrees\u2019 usefulness, but it\u2019s not so long ago that they\u2019ve forgotten the details of their experience,\u201d the methodology states.<\/p>\n

Mary Washington alumni would recommend their alma mater, with a 9.5 out of 10 ranking, and also said that it was worth it, with a score of 9.4. Alumni also gave both teaching quality and faculty mentorship a 9.4.<\/p>\n

UMW ranked 95th for career outcomes in the Poets&Quants listing and 88th for admission standards.<\/p>\n

The College of Business builds on Mary Washington\u2019s tradition of a well-rounded undergraduate program in the liberal arts, with small classes that encourage direct interaction with expert faculty to nurture the solid intellectual grounding necessary for tomorrow\u2019s business leaders and entrepreneurs. The College of Business undergraduate and graduate programs are accredited by AACSB International<\/a>, the longest serving global accrediting body for business schools and the benchmark of quality for business education worldwide, accrediting only 6% of the world\u2019s schools offering business degrees.<\/p>\n

Founded by business journalist\u00a0John Byrne, Poets&Quants is a media outlet and community for business schools and MBA programs offering in-depth analysis, news and advice for prospective and current MBA students. Since it began ranking business schools in 2016, the service says, it has continued to seek feedback from deans and directors and to adjust its approach.<\/p>\n

\u201cRanking undergraduate business schools is an inherently imperfect exercise. No single methodology captures the full picture,\u201d this morning\u2019s press release<\/a> states. \u201cHowever, at\u00a0Poets&Quants for Undergrads<\/em>, we strive to rank schools based on real data that matters most to students and parents.\u201d<\/p>\n

In December, UMW Professor of Marketing Kashef Majid<\/a> made Poets&Quants\u2019 2024 list of best undergraduate business professors, featuring accomplished, innovative and compassionate professors who \u201crepresent the best of what an undergraduate business degree can offer.\u201d In the publication, UMW senior <\/em>Grace Corriveau is quoted as saying of Majid: \u201cHe genuinely cares about his students\u2019 learning and success, going above and beyond to make the material fun and relatable. He is truly the best undergraduate business school professor!<\/p>\n
