{"id":1369,"date":"2008-11-26T12:00:00","date_gmt":"2008-11-26T12:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sites.umw.edu\/news\/?a=1369"},"modified":"2008-11-26T12:00:00","modified_gmt":"2008-11-26T12:00:00","slug":"gari-melchers-home-and-studio-to-host-free-holiday-open-house","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.umw.edu\/news\/2008\/11\/26\/gari-melchers-home-and-studio-to-host-free-holiday-open-house\/","title":{"rendered":"Gari Melchers Home and Studio to Host Free Holiday Open House"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Gari Melchers Home and Studio at Belmont will host its 31st Annual Holiday Open House on Sunday, December 14 from 10 to 5 p.m. The historic house and stone studio are open to the public without charge on this day. <\/p>\n<p>The Open House will feature festive interior house displays and outdoor fresh decorations by Town and Country Garden Club.  <\/p>\n<p>In the Studio Pavilion the Spotsylvania Middle School Bulldog Quartet will perform at 1 p.m., the Fredericksburg Chamber Chorale will perform at 2:30 p.m. and the Fredericksburg Academy Upper School Chorus will perform at 4 p.m. The Museum Shop will offer shoppers a selection of &ldquo;Vintage Christmas&rdquo; items.  <\/p>\n<p>Gari Melchers Home and Studio is a 27-acre estate and former residence of the artist Gari Melchers and his wife Corinne. The property, which is operated by the University of Mary Washington, is both a Virginia Historic Landmark and a National Historic Landmark. Located at 224 Washington St. in Falmouth, Va., a quarter mile west of the intersection of U.S. 1 and U.S. 17, it is open daily with an admission charge.
