The University of Mary Washington was ranked 56th out of 1,300 four-year colleges for the lowest student loan debt per borrower, according to LendEDU’s Student Loan Debt by School By State report. In a listing of public colleges and universities, UMW ranked 23rd. In addition, Mary Washington ranked fourth of all Virginia colleges for the lowest student loan debt at graduation.<\/p>

Nearly 70 percent of college students will graduate with student loans to repay. The survey data show that UMW students graduate with an average debt of $18,029, while the average student debt per borrower overall in Virginia is $28,731.<\/p>

LendEDU’s Student Loan Debt By School By State Report was created using the newest licensed Peterson’s financial aid data. Peterson’s released the fresh data for the Class of 2015 at the start of August 2016. LendEDU is the first organization to aggregate and analyze this data for the Class of 2015.<\/p>

With overall national student debt totaling nearly $1.3 trillion, students and their families should consider data that analyze that debt before they choose an institute of higher education to attend.<\/p>
