The UMW community came together in a big way on March 14, 2017. Mary Wash Giving Day<\/a> marked the largest single-day fundraising effort in Mary Washington history. In just 24 hours, 1,112<\/strong> donors made gifts to areas across the University totaling $194,870<\/strong>.*<\/p>

Alumni, parents, faculty, staff, students and friends of the University stepped up in force, exceeding the original goal of 654 donors before 5 p.m. The stretch goal of 1,000 donors was met before 10 p.m., unlocking a spontaneous $5,000 challenge match from an anonymous alumna. More than 30 Mary Washington alumni, parents, faculty and friends sponsored nearly $50,000 in challenge matches throughout the day, doubling the impact of donors’ gifts.<\/p>

“The Mary Washington community near and far came together to give back in a big way,” President Troy Paino said in a video message to donors. “Thanks to your generosity, we’ll be able to strengthen our tradition of excellence and meet students’ needs.”<\/p>
