The Virginia Governor\u2019s Office announced today the appointment of two Mary Washington alumnae \u2013 Kerri S. Barile \u201994 of Fredericksburg and Lisa Errickson Henry \u201996 of Stafford County \u2013 to UMW\u2019s Board of Visitors.<\/p>\n

Kerri S. Barile ’94<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Barile, who holds nearly three decades of experience in historic preservation, architectural history, historic research and archaeology, is the owner and president of Dovetail Cultural Resource Group. Based in Fredericksburg, the company is a certified Economically Disadvantaged Woman Owned Small Business and Disadvantaged Business Enterprise, handling preservation projects along the East Coast, from New York to North Carolina, and beyond.<\/p>\n

Focused on outreach, Dovetail has donated more than half a million dollars to charitable causes, including the establishment of a historic preservation scholarship at UMW, where Barile received last year\u2019s Distinguished Alumnus Award. In 2020, she won Enterprising Women<\/em> magazine\u2019s Enterprising Woman of the Year Award and was named Woman of the Year by the Women\u2019s Transportation Seminar.<\/p>\n

Barile, who served nine years on Fredericksburg City Council\u2019s Architectural Review Board, has taught university courses in historic preservation, preservation law, architectural history, and archaeology at UMW. Her pro bono services include editing the Bulletin of the Archaeological Society of Delaware<\/em> and working on books on area history, like Fredericksburg: The Official Guide<\/em>. She and her husband are also certified Fredericksburg-area foster parents.<\/p>\n

Barile earned a bachelor\u2019s degree in historic preservation at Mary Washington, a master\u2019s degree in anthropology and a master\u2019s certificate in museum management from the University of South Carolina, and a doctorate in archaeology and architectural history from the University of Texas at Austin.<\/p>\n

\u201cI fell in love with Mary Washington\u00a0the first time I visited the campus over\u00a030 years ago. It was the only school I applied to, and my experience changed my life,\u201d Barile said. \u201cI\u2019m utterly thrilled, and a bit shocked, to have been named a member of the Board of Visitors. This is a dream come true!\u201d<\/p>\n

Lisa Errickson Henry ’96<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Henry, who has more than two decades of healthcare marketing experience, is associate vice president of communications and marketing at Mary Washington Healthcare. Throughout her career, she has worked in strategic marketing, system branding, public relations, crisis communications, web and emerging media, call center development, corporate and community outreach, and complementary medicine practice management.<\/p>\n

Henry recently completed two consecutive terms on the national board of directors of the Society for Healthcare Strategy and Market Development, a professional membership group of the American Hospital Association. She has presented to national, state, regional and local organizations on a variety of topics, and volunteers her time, including serving on the board of the Fairy Godmother Project, which helps families living with pediatric cancer.<\/p>\n

She holds a bachelor\u2019s degree in English from Mary Washington, a master\u2019s in health administration from Penn State, and a master\u2019s in integrated marketing and communication from West Virginia University.<\/p>\n
