#ComeTogether with fellow Mary Wash alumni, parents, faculty, staff, students, and friends for the University’s fourth annual Giving Day on Thursday, March 19, 2020.
On #MaryWashDay, donors can make gifts to different areas of need across the University from midnight to 11:59 p.m. at givingday.umw.edu. Throughout the day, challenges and matches funded by generous donors will be “unlocked” to multiply the impact of each gift. The University has set a goal of 1,000 new donors and a total of 3,000 gifts.
The Underwood Parent Match will double the impact of UMW parents’ gifts to the Fund for Mary Washington:
Parent Leadership Circle members Lori and David Underwood P’22 will DOUBLE their fellow UMW parents’ gifts to the Fund for Mary Washington! The Underwoods will match, dollar-for-dollar, each Giving Day gift to the Fund by parents of current UMW students and parents of alumni, up to $2,000. When their full match is unlocked, they will make an additional $500 gift to support the TEAL Peer Educators program in the

Center for Prevention and Education.
Last year, donors made over 4,000 individual gifts totaling more than $600,000, a new record-breaking day for Mary Washington. Throughout the day on March 19, each gift will be tracked on the giving day website through dynamic leader boards and a donor wall to provide real-time updates on progress toward participation goals.
This year’s theme of “come together” reflects the power we have as a community to make a lasting impact. The University is asking donors to make gifts to help advance the University’s mission and to support our students. Gifts made during the 24-hour celebration will benefit students by providing funding for academic, athletic, arts, leadership, service, career, and cultural programs. Donors who wish to support the University’s areas of greatest need are asked to make a gift to the Fund for Mary Washington.
